We are delighted to share the strong and positive response to the survey circulated in summer 2024 exploring interest in an education-focused mentorship scheme. This initiative emerged from the ESLTIS 2024 Conference, where community members expressed a clear desire for mentoring tailored to the needs of teaching and scholarship-focused academics.
The survey received 151 responses from colleagues who expressed interest in participating in a scheme specifically designed for education-focused and teaching and scholarship (T&S) academics. This level of engagement provides compelling evidence of the need for structured mentorship opportunities within our community.
The ESLTIS mentoring scheme is aimed at education-focused/T&S academics and academic developers working in HE institutions across the UK and Ireland. Its aims are to support individual professional development, foster knowledge-sharing among peers on education-focused tracks, and enhance our collective sense of belonging within the community.
We are pleased to announce that the pilot scheme will be officially launched at the ESLTIS 2025 Conference. A dedicated session will be held after lunch to provide practical guidance on how to make the most of the mentoring experience. We look forward to continuing to grow this initiative and to supporting the development of our vibrant education-focused community.
